About Assets

An Asset is a logical container in MK.IO storage that holds your media files (video, audio, manifests).

The Storage Account must already exist in your project. If you leave the Container blank, MK.IO will auto-generate a GUID container name.

Assets are referenced by Streaming Locators to generate playback URLs, and by Flows as the output destination for encoding jobs.

About Streaming Locators

A Streaming Locator links an Asset to a Streaming Policy and generates the URLs needed for playback.

Use Predefined_ClearStreamingOnly for unprotected HLS/DASH delivery. Use Predefined_MultiDrmStreaming for Widevine + PlayReady + FairPlay protected content.

Start/End times are optional — leave blank for a permanent locator with no expiry.

Default Manifest Filename is used when urlStyle is Aquila or Unified. Use .ism for MP4, .mpd for TS, index.qfm for live events.

Suppressed — when enabled, returns a 404 response to playback requests, same behaviour as a locator whose startTime has not yet been reached.

About Streaming Endpoints

A Streaming Endpoint is the origin server that delivers HLS and DASH streams to players and CDNs.

Scale Units determine throughput capacity. 0 = standard tier (up to 200 Mbps). Each additional unit adds ~200 Mbps.

After creation, click ▶ Start to bring the endpoint online. The hostname becomes available once the endpoint reaches Running state.

Enable CDN to front the endpoint with a content delivery network for global scale.
